La Nationale 03:27
I spent years in the west during the white scare Working countless hours for a boss who didn't care Removing asbestos from old buildings in the city Without a clue, with no regard for safety We were thousands of miles away but it was just more of the same I wish there was something else to say but we played along with their game From the white gold dug in Quebec to the walls torn down in the West There was a century of malpractice that was never going to cease or desist A whole industry created by feeding from fear But now, how do you mend a hundred years? How do you mend a hundred years? How do you mend a hundred years? How do you mend? How do you mend? Led by foremen devoid of any judgement I never witnessed so many laws being so bent They let us work on dope with torn clothes But everyone went along, like it was nobody's fault From the white gold dug in Quebec to the walls torn down in the West There was a century of malpractice that was never going to cease or desist A whole industry created by feeding from fear But now, how do you mend a hundred years? a hundred years…

about

La Nationale was the second song we ever recorded but we thought it might be too "hardcore" when we recorded our first full lenght so we discarded it. We decided to record it when we did the "Normandie" recording session as a b-side. We taped it fast and did not spend so much time on it since it was far from a priority for everyone in the band. It stayed instrumental until Ced got in the band and started to record the first draft of our upcoming LP. Our friend Frank from Sick Scene Records released it on his "Going Nowhere Vol.3" Compilation tape this year (2021).

The lyrics are inspired by the experience our friend Blake had while working on asbestos removal in West Canada when he was younger. He was originally supposed to sing on the song but for some reason, it did not work. Our good friend David (Copperfield, Rancoeur) was then supposed to sing on it but we got Ced to sing full time in the band so we thought it would be fair to have him sing on it.
